I had a request from fans that they wanted to know what bands opened for Iron Maiden during their concerts.
This is how ever not that easy to find so I need all the help I can get.
Have you been to a concert and there is no Guest listed, please let me know who it was.


COLOUR CODES:
Special Guest to Iron Maiden have been printed in BLUE
When Iron Maiden been Special Guest to any band - the band have been printed in BLUE
Concerts that have been CANCELLED
If they have played at a festival, the name of the festival is printed in GREEN
All other information is printed in YELLOW
When it says "Note" there is an extra information in the bottom of each section of the tour.

METAL FOR MUTHAS TOUR 1980 - Part 1

NOTE 1: Acourding to "Praying Mantis Roadie Diary" Paul had problems with his voice, so Steve sang the entire concert!
Acourding to Gary Bushell, the band played instrumental instead of cancelling the gig.

NOTE 2:
A 2nd February 1980 news clipping from Sounds claims that the band had postponed all of its "Metal For Muthas" dates from 13 February,
onward so the band could go record their album. The band was supposed to tour through early March with Praying Mantis.
The Praying Mantis website has a roadie tour diary that claims the last show played with Iron Maiden was on 11th February.
Additional proof that the last half of the "Metal For Muthas" dates were postponed is an advertisement from Sounds printed on
3rd February which show a tour itinerary ending on the 13th of Feburary.

NOTE: In the book "Running Free" these two shows is listed but at the same time they say that the tour kicked off Feb. 9th.
You can with 80% sure say that the first two shows didn´t happen!!

NOTE 1: Acourding to souces this gig was a headline gig with Iron Maiden and Praying Mantis as Special Guest.
But officially they were support to Judas Priest. See Link! or Link!

NOTE: I think the concert on April 10th was a "make-up" for the gig in Feb.!

METAL FOR MUTHAS TOUR 1980 - Part 2

NOTE 1:
News articles showing tour itineraries revealed that the planned dates were for Brighton on the 22nd and Swansea on the 29th.
However, a ticket stub for Swansea showed a date of June 29th, while a flyer for Brighton also showed the same date.
This confusion has been cleared up by a Sounds article printed after the original tour itineraries had been revealed.
On May 10th 1980, Sounds reported that the dates for Brighton and Swansea had been changed to 22 June for Swansea and 29 June for Brighton.

NOTE 2:
The Portsmouth show on June 3rd was Cancelled and moved to July 1st. This can be read about in Sounds on May 10th 1980.

KISS - "Unmasked" EUROPEAN TOUR 1980
(Special Guest - Iron Maiden)

NOTE:
After several information about the Italian shows, I have finaly got the right information from a friend of mine, Alex Bergdahl,
who has found it in one of the best books around, when it comes to information on tourdates with KISS.
Promoters for the Italian tour was: Francesco Sanavo & David Zard.

NOTE 2: The shows at The Marquee Club are a big question aswell.
According to the book "Running Free" they took a holiday in Jesolo (Venice), Italy, but they also say that they played the shows.
2013.04.17 - News: I just got news that these shows never happen, acourding to Steve "Loopy" Newhouse (who was roadie from 78-84)
the band and crew were on holiday in Italy and rejoind Kiss in Nurnemberg. Thanks Steve for clearing this up!!

NOTE 3: The show in Oslo on October 12th is a show that is noted in "Running Free" to be played, but this is not
true due to the fact that back in 1980, the band and gear could not get from Copenhagen to Oslo in time.
So all list that has the 12th is wrong, this was never planed to be a show.
